The Creepy Mile starts at 7 p.m. The 5KM run starts at 7:45 p.m.
We recommend that you take advantage of our early kit pick up to avoid line-ups on event night. This year early kit pick-up is on Tuesday, October 10th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gears Bike Shop in Oakville (547 Trafalgar Rd, Oakville).
On event day, pick-up begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. Participants in the Creepy Mile should pick up their bibs by 6:30 p.m. to ensure that they have enough time to put on their bibs and get to the start line. The latest that 5K participants can pick up their bibs is 7 p.m.
Registration is available online through our registration provider RaceRoster. You can register online until 6 p.m. on October 11, or until the cap is met.
Please note that the Creepy Mile sells out ahead of race day each year. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
There is no race day registration for any of our events.
Complete pricing details are available on our registration site. Registration fees go up throughout the year, so register early to take advantage of early-bird discounts. Children under 2 years of age can participate in the Creepy Mile for free – but they will still need to register for insurance purposes.
The Creepy Mile (7 p.m.) is a 1-mile walk for families. It is scheduled so that parents running the 5KM event can still participate in the Creepy Mile with their little ones. The displays are designed to be family-friendly. The 5KM run/walk (7:45 p.m.) is open to all runners and walkers. Walkers will be asked to start towards the back of the pack.
Children must be accompanied by a registered adult in the Creepy Mile. Creepy Mile teams can be any size, but one adult (18+ years of age) must be present for every 4 children on a team.
The minimum age for the 5K is 7. Children ages 7 – 11 must be accompanied in the 5K by a registered adult. Parents, please use discretion with children ages 12 and up. This is a night-time run that goes through dark sections of trail, with no supervision.
The Creepy Mile takes place on a wide, paved road and path. The 5KM run is a trail race. Most of the running is done on crushed gravel and well-groomed paths. However, use caution as there are a few roots and bumps that keep things interesting! The course is easily manageable for those with strollers (who will be required to start at the back of the pack). Course map.
Yes. The trails are dark! It is mandatory to carry a flashlight or to wear a headlamp to participate in the event. This is for your safety and for the safety of others on the course. We have a supply of headlamps available to rent at a cost of $10. Headlamps must be reserved in advance; this can be done online when registering for our event.
Unfortunately, pets are not invited to this event. Please leave Fido at home.
Strollers are welcome in the Creepy Mile and 5KM trail run. If you are using a stroller in the 5K you will be required to start at the back of the pack, ahead of the walkers. Please use common sense such as maintaining a straight line ahead and yielding to runners without strollers.
Yes, we offer professional chip timing by Chip Time Results.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a peanut-free event. While we distribute only peanut-free candy, there are third party food suppliers on site and items in race kits that do contain peanuts. Like any event, you should assume that food, surfaces and other people may have been in contact with allergens. Please use appropriate caution. Gluten free treat bags are available for children. Bags must be reserved by October 1st by emailing email@example.com. Please include your child’s name. Your treat bag can be picked up at the registration desk upon arrival. At this event, participants are provided with pizza, hot chocolate, and of course, loads of Halloween candy.
Racers may purchase a commemorative long-sleeved technical shirt online for $35 plus tax / youth $20 plus tax. After the shirt cut-off (August 1), individuals interested in purchasing shirts may do so on-site for the cash price of $40 (adult, tax included) and $23 (youth, tax included).
We love to see costumed participants! In fact, most of our racers dress up for the event. While dressing up is not mandatory, it is encouraged! The vast majority of our participants do dress up.
Yes. Trek or Treat raises food donations in support of the Oakville Fare Share Food Bank. In 2017 our goal is to raise 1,500 pounds of food. We invite you to help us reach this goal by bringing a non-perishable food item on race night to be dropped into our donation box. Please review the list of most needed items for the food bank.
