The winner of the 10 k race was Jakob Van Dorp from Wiarton. Hot off his previous two wins at the Log Rocks and Steel Multi-Sport Race, and the Storm the 10 Multi-Sport Relay.

I cannot begin to describe the gratitude I have for all of you and your efforts to make last night a success.  It was a giant event with about 700 attendees!

Every person played a vital role in creating an exciting and safe event.  I know that each one of did anywhere from 2-100 different tasks – I will just touch on a small part of the night’s event.

It is easy to say that each one of you performed your task or (tasks) superbly and efficiently.  The event went off without and a hitch and for this, Mark and I would like to thank you.

Our Haunters: Many of you never get to see this crew – but believe me when I tell you they are one of the highlights of the night for many racers!  I apologize I don’t have everyone’s name this year – but Andrew and his daughter, Michael and Shawn have generally been the ones to head up the haunters that disturb our racers – Thank you to all the haunters that came out this year!

Sean, Mark, and Drew spent most of the day and night on their bikes, setting the course, leading out the course and then taking down the course! That was a LOT of kilometers!  Mark had at least 50km logged on his bike all-totaled, the guys probably rode and walked over 70 kms that day. That was a LOT of kilometers. Sean as always, a special thank you for the incredible amount of work you do on race day.  Drew, we hope you will continue to drag yourself off a 24-hour shift to keep Mark in line!

Patty, Christine, James and Laura – worked tirelessly on getting everything arranged for the Creepy Mile.  There seemed to be a lot of things to inflate for that one mile!  With 300 little creepers, that was a very busy event.  Over 100 pizzas, 400 cups of coffee and hot chocolate and a zillion kids eating candy, your task was not the least bit easy!  Patty was the RD for the Creepy Mile and James was overseeing the 10km racers.

The main host site – what can I say to Sarah L.?  With everyone helping, Sarah was able to get the registration area completely organized and functional without ever having been to one of our events!  A truly incredible accomplishment – my personal thanks to you for making my life 100 times saner on race night.

Dan, Brian and Alex did about a thousand tasks during the day from setting up the course to getting more cups!  After all of the set-up they spent hours outside.  Brian managed the flow of 400 cars in and out of the host site and after his parking duty Dan rode out to one of the main race junctions to ensure racers went in the right direction.  Alex was point man for the 10km runners and my truck loading specialist. Thanks guys – the night got better with every joke Brian and Dan cracked!

Registration Slaves:  Donna Arnold, Sarah, Petra and Jennifer – as usual, handled the million questions and problems that arose at the registration table.

All of these ladies were also stationed at at least two assignments after their life at the registration table.  Thank you as always – I can always breathe easier when I know you are all coming to work the events!

Each year we hope that Mike will grace us with his presence and outstanding emcee capabilities.  Once again, Mike was on scene faced with a little problem (that we forgot to bring any music) but with his keen resourcefulness managed to find some great music for the event.  Thanks Mike for your witty and enjoyable announcements and keeping the night alive!

Inside and outside, Andrea, Steve, Jane and Stephanie multitasked their way through the night.  Thank you guys for getting everything done and being superbly low-maintenance in the process!

Sarah I. and Jeff – our wonderful neighbours that are now an integral part of Trek or Treat!  You know – you now have a job for life.  These two lovers work the candy table and the 5km cut-in as well as the return towards the cemetery – without them we would have a lot of lost little ghosts.  Thank you again – maybe drinks this week?

“This way!”  Daniel, Nick, Louise, Barb, Chris and May – Thank you to everyone that pointed the racers in the right direction.  Chris (my brother!) had a great costume on at the water station, very spooky – we had a few severed heads out there as well as loads of candy!

James T – we never did meet but I hear you were out there in full spider man attire.  Thank you for manning the cemetery gate for the entire race.  Send me any pictures if you managed to get any!

Pumpkin Ladies –

A thank you to our regular pumpkin handlers.  I know 2 of you arrived – but in my limited memory I can’t remember which two of the 4 arrived and sat out in the chilly air to hand out the pumpkins.  Thank you ladies - Natasha, Elysia, Tatiana and Amanda.

Brian Arnold, Finish line master and cousin extraordinaire – another great race with a beautiful finish line!  Thank you for also handling pizzas until your replacement showed up!  The pizza guy never did find his keys.

On a final note – my two greatest supporters, Gigi and Tina. Gigi (my mom) managed to get our kids there, get them on the Creepy Mile with the Masson’s

and get my kids back home safe and sound.  Gigi also managed to whip up a small case of beer and chicken parmesan at midnight for the take-down crew.  A quick stop at

Gigi’s before the final move to storage – for this we were all grateful.

And Tina, my telephone support and best friend for well – the last 15 years!  Tina, 30 weeks pregnant and visiting from her home in Phoenix was there (in person!) to offer endless moral support and to lift light things!

Thank you all so much.  Without each one of you, the evening could never have been so fantastic!

This could get scary!

Trek or Treat is a small family run business, and we would like to hear your thoughts and comments from the race. This is your forum to give us the news, good, bad, or well what else is there?  The course need more marking, the pizza needs more cheese, registration too confusing, the ceiling needs to be higher, the temperature needs to be warmer, let us know! If you would like to send us a comment off the record, feel free to pick up the phone or email us, otherwise post away and let everyone know what you think!

We apologize for the delay. We have experienced a technical difficulty with the 10km results. Currently we have about 60% of the data. We are working closely with RRResults.com to retrieve the
